Food For Thought
There’s a new restaurant in Williamsburg. Yesterday a friend recommended it to Jeremy, so last night we had dinner at Food For Thought (that link goes to just the bare beginnings of their website, so for some actual info and a coupon, try the page on WilliamsburgMap.com).
It’s a delightful little restaurant. It’s sort of done up in a intellectual, literary type motif. Nice atmosphere, comfortable restaurant, friendly staff. A nice variety to the menu, appetizers, main meals, and desserts. Some familiar things, and some unique items. We started with an appetizer of fried cheese ravioli with tomato sauce (the “Da Vinci Dippers”). Jeremy had a Jamaican Jerk Chicken dish that he was particularly delighted with because it had a good kick to it (and those of you that know Jeremy know what that means if he’s saying that). I had a pistachio and parmesean cheese crusted chicken breast, served with a mushroom sauce, very creamy mashed potatos, and grilled zucchini. Unlike alot of restaurants these days, Food For Thought has an excellent selection of side dishes, many of which are actually of the healthy variety. You can even make your own meal out of a selection of 3 sides plus a small salad (I’m thinking I’ll try that next time we go). We skipped dessert because we were stuffed after the appetizer and main dishes, but we fully intend to go back and order lighter to save room for checking out that part of the menu as well. We met the owner, who told us that it was only the third day the restaurant had been open. They are off to a great start.
So if you happen to be in Williamsburg VA sometime soon, go out on Richmond Road and stop by Food For Thought. I’m hoping it will be around for a while.
